How to Find Business Phone Numbers for B2B Sales
Where to find business phone numbers for a B2B call list: the listing, the contact page and the social pages, how to tell a landline from a mobile in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK, the USA and India, and how to format and check numbers before a campaign.

To find business phone numbers for B2B sales, look where a business publishes them for its own customers: its listing in the city's map listings, the contact page of its website, and its Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages. The listing gives the main line; the website and social pages give the mobiles that reach an owner. This guide walks through each place, shows how to tell a landline from a mobile in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK, the USA and India, explains how to put numbers in international format for a dialler or WhatsApp, and ends with the checks that keep a business phone number list clean before a campaign.
The short answer
- Take the main line from the business listing, the number the business keeps current.
- Open the website's contact page and footer for a direct mobile, a WhatsApp number and a name.
- Check the social pages for a mobile that appears on neither.
- Mark each number landline or mobile from its first digits.
- Write every number in international format: country code, no leading zero, no spaces.
- Check length, prefix and repeats, then call a sample before the campaign.
Where do you find business phone numbers?
A business wants customers to call, so it publishes its number in the places customers look. Those are the places to check, in this order.
- The business listing. Search the business type and the area in the city's map listings and open the listing. It shows the main line, the address and usually the website. Customers book on this number, so most businesses keep it up to date. It rarely shows a mobile or a person's name.
- The website contact page. The contact page, the footer and sometimes the about page carry the number the business wants enquiries on. For an owner-run firm that is often a mobile or a WhatsApp number. A team page may list direct numbers.
- The social pages. The about section of a Facebook page, an Instagram bio and the contact details of a LinkedIn company page often show a mobile that is on neither the listing nor the website. For salons, cafes, gyms and traders, this may be the only mobile you will find.
Record every number once, in its own column, with its source. If the website and the listing disagree, the website is usually newer. A phone number is one column of a lead list: how to build a B2B lead list covers the rest, and the cold calling list guide covers which businesses to include.
How do you tell a landline from a mobile?
It matters: a WhatsApp list can hold only mobiles, and a mobile may belong to a person as much as to a business, so a call to it deserves extra care. In most countries the first digits tell you; the USA is the exception.
| Country | Country code | Landline looks like | Mobile looks like | Written for a dialler |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UAE | +971 | 0 plus the emirate digit, then 7 digits: 04 123 4567 (Dubai), 02 (Abu Dhabi), 06 (Sharjah) | 050, 052, 054, 055, 056 or 058, then 7 digits: 050 123 4567 | +971 4 123 4567 and +971 50 123 4567 |
| Saudi Arabia | +966 | 011 (Riyadh), 012 (Jeddah and Makkah), 013 (Eastern Province), 014, 016 or 017, then 7 digits: 011 123 4567 | 05, then 8 digits: 050 123 4567 | +966 11 123 4567 and +966 50 123 4567 |
| UK | +44 | 01 or 02 plus the city code: 020 7946 0000 (London), 0161 (Manchester), 0121 (Birmingham) | 07, then 9 digits: 07700 900123 | +44 20 7946 0000 and +44 7700 900123 |
| USA | +1 | 10 digits, a 3-digit area code and 7 digits: (212) 555-0100 | The same 10 digits; the format does not tell you | +1 212 555 0100 |
| India | +91 | 0 plus the city code, 10 digits in all after the 0: 011 (Delhi), 022 (Mumbai), 080 (Bengaluru) | 10 digits starting 6, 7, 8 or 9: 98765 43210 | +91 22 1234 5678 and +91 98765 43210 |
Which numbers are neither landline nor mobile?
A few lines are neither: free numbers (800 in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, 0800 in the UK, 800 or 888 in the USA, 1800 in India), UAE 600 and Saudi 9200 business lines, and UK 03 numbers. None of these can take a WhatsApp message.
How do you put numbers in international format?
International format means the country code first, no leading zero, and no spaces, brackets or dashes. A dialler needs it to route the call, and WhatsApp needs it to find the account.
- Strip the punctuation. Remove spaces, dashes, dots, brackets and any plus sign.
- Handle a 00. A number that starts 00 already has its country code; drop the 00.
- Replace the leading zero. A number that starts with a single 0 is written in local form. Drop the 0 and put the country code in front: 971 for the UAE, 966 for Saudi Arabia, 44 for the UK, 91 for India. US numbers have no leading zero; put 1 in front of the 10 digits.
- Check the length. Digits only, a UAE mobile is 12 digits and a UAE landline 11; Saudi, UK and Indian numbers are usually 12; US numbers are 11. Anything else needs a look.
- Add the plus back only where the tool wants it. Most diallers accept either; WhatsApp wants digits only.
In Excel, with the number as written in column A and the country code for the list (971, 966, 44 or 91) typed once in cell F1, these four formulas give you the digits, the international number, the type and the length in columns B to E:
=SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(A2," ",""),"-",""),".",""),"+","")
=IF(LEFT(B2,2)="00",MID(B2,3,15),IF(LEFT(B2,1)="0",$F$1&MID(B2,2,15),B2))
=IF(LEFT(A2,2)="05","Mobile",IF(LEFT(A2,1)="0","Landline","Check"))
=LEN(C2)
The type formula is written for UAE and Saudi lists; change "05" to "07" for a UK list.
Take a worked example. Say you collected 400 numbers for dental clinics in Jeddah: 300 landlines from listings starting 012, 90 mobiles starting 05 from websites and Instagram pages, and 10 already written with +966. After the formulas, 390 rows are 12 digits long. The other 10 show 11 or 13, and turn out to be digits missing or doubled on a contact page. The 90 mobiles become the WhatsApp list; the landlines stay on the calling list.
How do you check a business phone number list before a campaign?
- Length and prefix. Sort by the length column and look at every row of the wrong length; check the prefix matches the type.
- Repeats. Count each international number. A number that appears on several rows is either a duplicate business or a shared reception line in a business centre. Keep one row per business and mark the shared line. The duplicate leads guide shows the Excel steps.
- Type. Make sure the WhatsApp list holds only mobiles, and that the calling list marks mobiles, so callers know when they might reach a person rather than a reception.
- Age. Recheck numbers collected more than six months ago against the website before a big campaign.
- A test sample. Call 20 to 30 rows spread across the list. Count the dead, the wrong and the right. If more than a few are wrong, recheck the source before dialling the rest.
- The opt-out list. Remove every number, name and domain on your do-not-call list.
Where Rovero fits
Rovero is B2B lead generation software for Windows, and finding published business phone numbers is most of what it does. You choose a business type and a city, tick the areas, and Rovero searches them one by one. For each business it records the phone numbers from the listing, then checks the homepage, contact and about pages and the Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages and keeps up to five extra mobile numbers, see emails, mobiles and WhatsApp numbers. It collects only what the business publishes itself; nothing is guessed.
The marketing-ready lists do the formatting: the WhatsApp list gives every mobile with its country code and leaves landlines out, and you choose the columns. Each business is checked against everything you already saved, so the same clinic does not appear twice across searches, and a phone list ready to copy is one click away.
One honest limit: details change over time, so check a lead before an important campaign, and keep the test-sample step above even for a fresh list.
Frequently asked questions
What is the fastest way to find business phone numbers?
Open the business listing for the main line, then the website contact page for a mobile. Those two places hold the numbers for most businesses, and a social page covers most of the rest. For hundreds of businesses, software that visits all three for you saves the hours.
How do I know if a UAE number is a mobile?
A UAE mobile starts 050, 052, 054, 055, 056 or 058 and has ten digits with the leading zero. A landline starts with the emirate code, such as 04 for Dubai or 02 for Abu Dhabi, and has nine digits. In international form the mobile is +971 5 and the landline +971 4, +971 2 and so on.
Can I tell a US landline from a mobile by the number?
No. US landlines and mobiles share the same ten-digit format, and a number can be moved from one to the other. Treat every US number as possibly a mobile, and dial by hand rather than with automated calls.
Which format does WhatsApp need?
Country code, then the number without its leading zero, with no plus, spaces or dashes: 971501234567 for a Dubai mobile, 447700900123 for a UK mobile. Only mobiles can receive WhatsApp messages, so leave landlines off that list.
How often should I check a business phone number list?
Before every campaign, with a short test sample, and in full every six months. Numbers for new businesses and for restaurants and small clinics change fastest.
