Ramadan WhatsApp Marketing: Eid, White Friday and Christmas
Plan Ramadan WhatsApp marketing and holiday campaigns with a calendar for Eid, White Friday, Black Friday and Christmas, timing tips and sample messages.

Ramadan WhatsApp marketing is different from any other season: people's days change shape, evenings get busy, and the tone that works in a November sale would feel wrong. Eid, White Friday, Black Friday and Christmas each have their own rhythm too. This guide gives you a seasonal calendar for the Gulf, the UK and the USA, a planning timeline that starts weeks before the season, Eid offers and other messages you can adapt, and the timing that decides whether a message is read.
The short answer
- Start planning five to six weeks before the season, not the week before.
- Grow your list of customers who agreed to hear from you, and give any new sending number a gentle start early.
- Match the tone to the season: greetings and generosity in Ramadan and Eid, clear deals on White Friday and Black Friday, deadlines at Christmas.
- Schedule messages for the recipient's time of day, which in Ramadan is not the usual working day.
- Send fewer messages in busy seasons, not more, and always include a way to stop.
Seasonal campaign calendar
Ramadan and Eid follow the Islamic calendar, which is set by the moon, so they move about 11 days earlier each year and the exact dates are confirmed close to the time. Check the dates for your country each year.
| Season | When | Where it matters | What works |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ramadan | A month that moves each year with the moon | The Gulf, and Muslim customers everywhere | Iftar and suhoor offers, gifting, giving, evening hours |
| Eid al-Fitr | Straight after Ramadan | The Gulf, and Muslim customers everywhere | Gifts, new clothes, sweets, family meals, travel |
| Eid al-Adha | About ten weeks after Eid al-Fitr | The Gulf, and Muslim customers everywhere | Family meals, travel, holiday opening hours |
| Saudi Founding Day | 22 February | Saudi Arabia | Heritage themes, local pride offers |
| Mother's Day | 21 March in many Arab countries; spring in the UK; May in the USA | All regions, on different dates | Gifts, salon and restaurant bookings |
| Saudi National Day | 23 September | Saudi Arabia | National colours, local offers |
| White Friday and Black Friday | Late November, the day after US Thanksgiving | The Gulf (often called White Friday), the UK and the USA | Short, clear deals, early access for subscribers |
| UAE National Day | 2 December | UAE | National themes, long weekend offers |
| Christmas and Boxing Day | 25 and 26 December | The UK, the USA and expat customers in the Gulf | Gifts, last order dates, January sales |
Ramadan WhatsApp marketing: what changes
The day changes shape. People fast from dawn to sunset, break the fast at iftar, and many eat suhoor before dawn. Office hours in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are usually shorter during Ramadan, and many people are busiest with family and shopping in the evening.
Timing follows the day. Food messages suit the early afternoon, when families plan iftar. Shopping and gifting messages suit the evening after iftar. Avoid sending right at iftar time, when nobody is looking at their phone.
The tone softens. Open with a greeting, not a price. "Ramadan Kareem" is a warm, common greeting. Some brands also hold food photos back during fasting hours and send them closer to iftar.
Giving matters. If your offer includes a donation, say exactly what you give and to whom, and keep that promise.
The last stretch is busy. The final week or two before Eid is usually the busiest time for clothes, gifts and sweets. Plan your Eid offer to start then, not on the day.
Here is a Ramadan message you can adapt:
Ramadan Kareem {{first_name|there}},
Our iftar boxes are back for the month, for two or for the whole family.
Order before 2 pm for delivery before iftar.
Reply STOP to stop these messages.
For customers who prefer Arabic, have a native speaker write the Arabic version rather than translating word for word.
Eid offers on WhatsApp
Eid is a time for greetings, and a simple "Eid Mubarak" with no offer at all, sent to your best customers, can mean more to them than a discount. If you do send an offer, send it before Eid, when people are buying, and tell customers your holiday opening hours and the last day for delivery.
Eid Mubarak {{first_name|there}}, from all of us at the shop.
Thank you for being with us this year. We are open again from the second day of Eid.
White Friday, Black Friday and Christmas marketing
White Friday is the name many Gulf retailers use for the late-November sales, which often run for several days. Black Friday in the UK and the USA is followed by Cyber Monday. Stand out by being early and clear: give your WhatsApp subscribers early access a day before, with the real price and the real end date.
{Hi|Hello} {{first_name|there}}, our White Friday prices start tomorrow at 10 am.
As a WhatsApp subscriber you can order today, a day early, at the same prices.
Reply STOP to stop these messages.
Christmas messages work best when they carry a deadline people need: the last day to order for delivery, holiday opening hours, and in the UK the start of the Boxing Day and January sales. Never invent urgency; a made-up countdown costs more trust than it earns.
Planning timeline, step by step
- Six weeks before: decide the offer, count the customers who have agreed to WhatsApp messages, and put sign-up prompts in your shop, on receipts and on your website.
- Four to five weeks before: link any new number and give it a gentle start. With 20 messages on the first day and 10 more each day, a new number reaches 200 a day on day 19. Our guide on how to plan a WhatsApp marketing campaign explains the full plan.
- Two to three weeks before: write the messages in each language, with two or three variants, then preview and test them on your own phone.
- One week before: import the final list, check which numbers are on WhatsApp, and schedule the sends.
- During the season: read replies every day, answer them, and pause if messages start failing.
- After the season: export the results, note what worked, and make sure every opt-out is recorded.
A worked example: say 3,000 customers have agreed to hear from you and you have two settled numbers sending up to 200 a day each. That is 400 messages a day, so reaching everyone takes about eight days. If your White Friday sale lasts three days, start the early-access messages a week ahead, or send only to your most active customers.
Region notes and good practice
Weekends differ: Saturday and Sunday in the UAE since 2022, Friday and Saturday in Saudi Arabia, Saturday and Sunday in the UK and the USA. Ramadan working hours and Eid holidays are announced each year, so check them before you schedule. For Saudi customers in particular, our guide to WhatsApp marketing in Saudi Arabia covers consent and Arabic messages.
WhatsApp is built for conversations people welcome, and it can limit accounts that many people block or report, so message people who know your business and expect to hear from you. In the UAE, the TDRA rules and the PDPL expect clear consent for marketing messages, a named sender and a free opt-out. Saudi Arabia's PDPL requires prior consent and an easy way to withdraw it. In the UK, PECR treats WhatsApp messages as electronic mail, so individual customers need consent or a valid soft opt-in. In the USA, get written consent before automated marketing texts. This is general information, not legal advice; check the current rules for the country you send to.
Where Nitro fits in a seasonal campaign
Nitro is WhatsApp campaign software for Windows that sends through your own WhatsApp numbers, linked with Linked devices the same way WhatsApp Web works. Its campaign wizard estimates how long a campaign will take before you start. You can send now or schedule a day and time, with sending hours that follow your clock or each contact's own time zone, and skip people who got a campaign in the last few days, which matters when seasonal offers overlap. New numbers get a gentle start (20 messages on day one, 10 more each day), spin text and up to 50 variants keep messages varied, and you can send pictures, PDF menus and catalogues, and polls. You can also duplicate last year's campaign as a starting point and export results to CSV.
