How to Find a Company's Owner or Manager from Public Sources
How to find business owner contact details from public sources: company registers in the UK, USA, UAE and Saudi Arabia, about and team pages, LinkedIn and business listings, plus which details are public and which are private.

To find a company's owner or operating manager from public sources, start with the company register for its country, which names the directors or licence holders, then check the company's own about and team pages, its LinkedIn page and the signed replies on its business listing. To find business owner contact details, use what the business publishes: its address, phone number and general email, because an owner's personal address and mobile are private unless the owner has published them. This guide covers the registers by country, the company's own pages, what counts as public business information, and the rules on personal data.
The short answer
- Search the company register for the country: it names the directors, officers or licence holder.
- Read the about, team and contact pages on the company's website for the owner or manager's name and role.
- Check the LinkedIn company page and the people listed under it.
- Look at the business listing: owners often reply to reviews with their name and title.
- Contact the person through the business's published channels, not a private address you guessed.
What is public business information, and what is private?
Public business information is what a company or a register publishes about the company. Private information is what belongs to the person, such as a home address, a personal mobile number or a personal email. The line matters because data protection rules apply to information about a named person, even when that person runs a business.
| Detail | Usually public? | Where it is published |
|---|---|---|
| Company legal name and number | Yes | Company register |
| Registered office address | Yes | Company register |
| Directors, officers or licence holder names | Yes, in most countries | Company register, free zone directory |
| Owner or manager's name and job title | Often | About page, LinkedIn, replies to reviews |
| Business phone number and general email | Yes | Website, listing, social pages |
| Owner's direct work email | Sometimes | Team page, email signature, LinkedIn contact section |
| Owner's personal mobile or home address | No | Private unless the owner publishes it |
Use the top rows freely, the middle rows with care (note where you found each one), and leave the bottom row alone.
Which public registers name a company's owner or manager?
Every country keeps a register of companies, and most publish the names of the people responsible for each one.
- United Kingdom. Companies House lists every limited company and LLP with its officers (directors and secretaries) and, for most companies, the people with significant control. The officer's service address is public; the home address is not. Sole traders are not on the register.
- United States. Each state keeps its own business registry, usually run by the Secretary of State. A search shows the entity, its status, its registered agent and, in many states, the officers or managers. Coverage of names varies by state.
- United Arab Emirates. Mainland companies hold a trade licence from the emirate's economic department (in Dubai, the Department of Economy and Tourism), and the licence lookup shows the trade name, activity and licence status; the manager's name appears on some lookups, and the National Economic Register covers licences across the emirates. Free zones publish their own company directories, often with a contact name and a general email.
- Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Commerce's commercial register lists each establishment and company, its activity and its status, and for companies it often names the managers. Several services draw on the same register data.
- Elsewhere. Singapore's ACRA, India's Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the federal and provincial registries in Canada and ASIC in Australia all offer a public search with similar facts.
A register gives you the name and the legal facts, almost never a working email; for that, go to the company's own pages.
How do you find business owner contact details on the company's own pages?
The company website is where the owner decides what to publish. Work through it in order:
- The about page. Small businesses often tell their story here: "founded by Sara in 2015", with a photo and sometimes a direct email.
- The team or people page. Firms of accountants, lawyers, architects and consultants list partners and managers with roles and often an email each.
- The contact page and footer. Even when no name appears, the general email and phone number are the channels the owner chose for enquiries.
- The news or blog page. Press notices and posts are often signed by the owner or managing director.
- The email signature. If you already have one email from the company, the signature usually gives the sender's full name and title, and the address pattern.
For the seven places to look for the address itself, see our guide on how to find a business email address.
What do LinkedIn and the business listing tell you?
LinkedIn fills the gap between the register and the website. The company page links to the website and lists employees who have connected themselves to it; sort by title and you will usually find the owner, managing director, general manager or operations manager. Some people publish a work email in their profile's contact section. Send a connection request or a message through the platform rather than guessing an address.
The business listing is the source people forget. When an owner replies to reviews, the reply is often signed: "Thanks for your visit, Ahmed, Manager". The listing itself gives the phone number and website that lead to everything above.
Worked example: the manager of a clinic in Dubai
Say you sell a patient-booking system and want to reach the manager of Palm Grove Medical Centre, a made-up clinic in Jumeirah.
- The clinic's business listing shows a landline, an address in a named building on Al Wasl Road and a website. Two recent reviews have replies signed "Dr Hanan, Medical Director".
- The website's about page names Dr Hanan as the founder and names an operations manager, Priya, with no email. The contact page gives one address, info@ at the clinic's domain, and a WhatsApp number for bookings.
- The Dubai trade licence lookup confirms the trade name, its activity (medical clinic) and that the licence is active.
- LinkedIn shows Priya as Operations Manager at the clinic for three years, with no published email.
- You write to info@, address the message to Priya by name and role, and mention the booking question Dr Hanan answered in a review reply. You do not guess priya@ and you do not look for her personal mobile.
Total time: about ten minutes, and a message that reaches the right person through a channel the clinic chose.
What rules apply to contacting a named person?
A company's general address is business information. A named person's work email is still personal data in most countries, so it carries rules. In the UK, UK GDPR applies to a named person's details and PECR sets the rules for marketing emails; the ICO enforces both. In the UAE, the PDPL and the TDRA's rules on marketing messages apply. Saudi Arabia's PDPL requires consent for marketing to a person. The federal rules for commercial email apply in the USA. In practice: use published business channels, say who you are, offer an opt-out and record where you found each detail. This is general information, not legal advice; check the current rules for the country you send to.

Where Rovero fits
Rovero is B2B lead generation software for Windows. It does not look up owners in registers, and it does not find anyone's private details. What it does is the groundwork: you choose a business type and a city, and it finds each business in the city's listings area by area, with its name, address, phone numbers, website, rating and reviews.
For each business it then checks the website and the Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages and keeps the emails and mobile numbers the business publishes, up to three emails and five extra numbers per lead. That gives you the website, general email and phone number for a whole city in one list, so the steps above start from a ready list. The building, floor and unit details help when you visit or post something.
One honest limit: Rovero collects what businesses publish about themselves, so the owner's name and direct address still come from the register, the about page or a phone call.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find business owner contact details for free?
Use the public register for the country to get the owner's or director's name, then the company's about page, LinkedIn and the signed replies on its business listing. The contact details to use are the ones the business publishes: its general email, phone number and address.
Is the owner's home address on the company register?
In the UK, no: Companies House shows a service address for each officer and keeps the home address private. Most other registers work the same way and show the registered office, not a home. Treat any home address you come across as private.
Can I email the director named on Companies House?
You can write to the company at its registered office or its published general email and address the message to the director. The register does not give the director's email, and guessing one is unreliable and can cross data protection rules. Ask for the right address through the published channels.
How do I find the manager of a company in Dubai?
Check the trade licence lookup for the licence holder, the free zone directory if the company is in one, the company's about page and its LinkedIn page. Review replies on the business listing are often signed with the manager's name and title.
What if the owner is not named anywhere?
Call the published number and ask who runs the business and how they prefer to be contacted. For a very small business the person who answers is often the owner.
